Kes x J Perry x Michael Brun – ‘Liki Tiki’

Kes x J Perry x Michael Brun - ‘Liki Tiki’

Port-of-Spain meets Port-Au-Prince as Trinidadian soca stars KES (aka KES THE BAND) link up with Haitian-born producer Michaël Brun (J Balvin, Mr Eazi) and singer JPerry on “Liki Tiki.” The track, which was co-written and co-produced with Trinidad-based Dwala, is out today on all DSPs via California-based Ineffable Records. “Liki Tiki” blends a callaloo of Caribbean music genres (soca, kompa, dancehall, reggaeton) together with bilingual lyrics in English and Haitian Creole. The result is a slow-wine anthem that’s sure to soundtrack intimate dance sessions across the Caribbean and broader African Diaspora this summer. “Liki Tiki is the way I describe our calypso-style rhythms and feel,” says KES frontman Kees Dieffenthaller. “It’s the driving force behind the swing in our music. It’s smooth, sexy and makes you feel good.”

Kes – ‘Jolene’

Kes – Jolene - Ineffable Records

Soca superstars and cultural ambassadors KES THE BAND invite listeners to Trinidad & Tobago with their first 2022 release “Jolene.” Not to be confused with the Dolly Parton classic, this “Jolene” is a buoyant celebration of good vibes and rolling waistlines in the tradition of crossover soca smashes like Rupee’s “Tempted to Touch” and Kes’ own “Hello.” With Carnival celebrations paused for the second straight year, the band made it their aim to create a totemic anthem that will instantly transport listeners from across the globe to Caribbean shores. Producer Dwala’s mid-tempo riddim adds a touch of afrobeats and highlife to the mix, ensuring “Jolene” a spot on the playlists of any DJ looking to bring global vibes to the party in 2022.

Consider II (feat. Kes & Walshy Fire) – Del B, Wizkid & Flavour

Consider II (feat. Kes & Walshy Fire) - Del B, Wizkid & Flavour

Singer/producer DEL B and Major Lazer’s WALSHY FIRE connect Africa and the Caribbean on “Consider II” featuring vocals from soca superstar KES alongside Naija/afropop icons WIZKID and FLAVOUR. Nigeria’s DEL B (producer of Runtown’s global smash “Mad Over You” along with hits by Wizkid, Davido and Mr Eazi) made the original “Consider” with Wizkid and Flavour for 2019’s Afrodisiac: The Mixtape.

Now in 2020, Walshy Fire has added his touch to the track, applying his trademark Caribbean x afrobeats fusion to create a trans-Atlantic conversation in the spirit of 2019’s Abeng album. The final ingredient in “Consider II” is the addition of featured vocals from Trinidad’s KES, who comes to the track riding a wave of acclaim from the newly released live album, WE HOME. Arriving right in between last week’s virtual Notting Hill Carnival feting in London and this weekend’s NY Carnival, “Consider II” is sure to satisfy listeners’ craving for one last dose of summer.
