- One of Dancehall's original rude 'bwoys', Jah Thomas has never considered retiring from recording music. In fact, the veteran toaster is looking to conquer virgin territory with Clarks A Clarks, his new album which is released by Tad's International Record. Clarks A Clarks has 10 songs including the title track which salutes the popular British footwear he has worn for most of his 67 years. Jah Thomas produced all songs on Clarks A Clarks which hears him collaborating with fellow veterans Peter Metro on 'Get Inna Mi Car' and Josey Wales on 'Di Devil Control Dem'. Jah Thomas also shares the mic with his son, Da'Ville on 'Party Time ' and Junior Moore of The Tamlins with whom he does two songs.
The jocular Jah Thomas, best known for songs like 'Shoulder Move', is eyeing a particular market for 'Clark's A Clark's'.
"Mi perform all over England, but never in (mainland) Europe. Wi want it reach di world but we'd a love touch Europe especially, " he said.
Nkrumah Thomas (he was named after the first Prime Minister/President of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah) began recording in 1976 for Alvin "GG" Ranglin. Jah Thomas’ first song was 'Midnight Rock' which is also the name of his record label. He has produced over 40 albums by artistes such as Sugar Minott, Super Cat, Early B and Little John.
Clarks A Clarks is the second album that Jah Thomas has released with Tad’s Record; the first album was Nah Fight Over Woman.
