Special Request Riddim by XTM Nation
Reggae Dancehall artist D’yani is breaking the mold, and expanding his range of hits with the new XTM Nation produced Live A Likkle. This new single is a tranquil reggae groove, occupying a worthy spot among the singles on the riddim titled Special Request by XTM Nation. It’s a smooth, uplifting reminder that despite the struggle, it’s important to make time to appreciate the joys of life. Although D’yani is appreciated by music lovers of all kinds, fans of the reggae dancehall romance sub genre have been on the receiving end of his biggest hits so far. Using this opportunity to express a more celebratory and soulful side of himself, Dyani has produced one of the best songs on the Riddim thus far.
This XTM.Nation release by Kareem ‘Remus’ Burrell is in fact a continuation of the legacy set out by his father Philip ‘Fatis’ Burrell, who had a similar ambition of mixing older traditions within the sounds and narratives of the music with a fresh perspective. Special Request is just that. It is a look back at an era in which we were all in love with our own music. The quality of the music was a great factor, and in a similar way, the quality in the production of Special Request is evident. But it is also uniquely its own sound, which Kareem achieves by tapping into the reggae dancehall’s sister genre Hip Hop. An influence we can hear faintly in the bass drums that create the initial excitement, like a great sales pitch. Only to enrapture the audience in a thorough musical drama.
D’yani is a singer songwriter from Spanish Town, Jamaica who has set himself apart using his remarkable vocal range and writing ability. With hit songs like Ride It, Pity, Style and most recently Reminisce with DJ Verg, the young artist is blazing his own trail in the Jamaican music space. Mixing traditional reggae dancehall sounds with the classic R&B soul style, not to mention a pinch 80s blues, D’yani has created a sound that is unique to himself while maintaining the sonic legacy of musicians who have gone before.
This latest single by D’yani will add a new layer to his growing musical persona. With the track he shares a poignant message that not only deviates from the niche where he has found the most success with records, but does so with exceptional quality. It’s a great introspective listen with a production that helps it to achieve the fit for every playlist status. Everyone in some way will be able to relate to the sense of gratitude in the song, but the official music video for the track does a great deal to translate the feeling. Directed by Samo, the scenes feature the spirited lives of regular people as they do their best to find their own joy. Officially released February 21st, the official music video is available for your viewing on Youtube, and the official single is available for stream, download and purchase on all platforms.
