– In these times of political correctness, the man’s role in the home and society is challenged. Hezron and Turbulence were raised in an era when manhood meant something, and they let their feelings be heard on ‘Made For The Battle’, a hardcore song which will be released on February 9 by Tad’s International Record.
It is co-written by Hezron, Orville Stoddart, who played drums and keyboards on the single; Sheldon Campbell (Turbulence’s real name), Tad Dawkins senior and Tad Dawkins Jr.
Hezron, Stoddart and Tad’s International Record are co-producers of the song which blends dancehall with elements of old school hip hop.
“In this time when the term ‘toxic masculinity’ is thrown around as if we should now live in a time when there are no protectors, and man should cower from their duty to serve and protect loved ones or from any form of injustice to fellow humans, I believe this song is a reminder of purpose.” said Hezron.
It is the first release of the year for the Montego Bay-born singer, who toured Ghana in December and January, doing shows in growing reggae markets such as Accra, that West African country’s capital.
The musicians who played on ‘Made For The Battle’ are bassist Donald “Danny Bassie” Dennis of The Firehouse Crew, LaMont “Monte” Savory on lead guitar, and Hezron who played rhythm guitar.
Hezron has a long association with Tad’s International Record. His previous effort for the label was a cover of Bob Dylan’s ‘I Shall be Released’ alongside Big Youth. That song is part of ‘Celebrating Jamaica 61’, an album released last August to mark the country’s independence.
‘Made For The Battle’ is one of the smashing hits from Hezron’s recently released album, Man on A Mission (M.O.A.M.).
