Today, @ToshAlexander unveiled her much anticipation new single “Bubble”. Fans and journalists alike will immediately note Bubble features Miss Kitty, a renowned radio personality, host and online influencer from Jamaica. Ms. Kitty is best known for her ability to excite, energize and hype up crowds, with her creative sayings and slangs — so fans can expect “Bubble” to deliver an uptempo and lively vibe. The Artwork is fun, raw, and colorful. It portrays a photo-real cartoon image of Tosh in hair rollers, blowing up her bubble gum. Tosh explained, “The song, similar to the artwork, is meant to be playful and represent a dancehall vibe, it’s about that one of a kind fun energy in our music.” They say art imitates life, but in some rare cases, the opposite is true. As seen in the photo below, it is confirmed that scenes from the upcoming “Bubble” music video was inspired by the single’s stunning artwork.
Tosh’s new single marks the beginning of an evolution in her approach to dancehall. There is a meticulous and thoughtful effort to showcase Tosh’s true-to-her-roots, hardcore Dancehall delivery. In fact, a select few DJs were able to preview the single, including DJ Young Chow of New York’s Hot 97 and Dahved Levy of WBLS Radio. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Dahved was quoted saying “ Tosh attacks the riddim with a ferocity nostalgic of Lady Saw and O. People will love this for Summer 2018.” Many insiders believe “Bubble” is a perfect historical reference to Tosh’s evolution from R&B-Reggae to hardcore Dancehall. It is a beautiful transition that Tosh’s fans are welcoming.
